Shell casings only clue in drive-by shooting

Montreal police only have some spent shell casings to go on in their investigation of what can be described as a drive-by shooting early Friday with no apparent target.

Police say several 911 calls were received around 7 a.m. that a motorist had been seen driving past the corner of St-Ferdinand and St-Jacques Sts., firing gunshots in the air.

When officers arrived, all they found were several spent shell casings. Police set up a crime scene perimeter at the intersection.
