Ikea teams up with stylist
A fashion activist and a furniture and home decor giant, both hailing from Sweden, are collaborating on a new furniture line due out in March 2018.
Bea Åkerlund, a sought-after stylist who has collaborated with Madonna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, has joined forces with Ikea for a collection of furnishings and home decor items touted as the company’s most daring.
Called Omedelbar, the limitededition collection will include red lip-shaped cushions, 3D-printed hand-shaped jewelry displays, a leather-studded chair and a B-shaped lamp, not to mention large glass hats, reports U.K.’s Mirror.
Or how about an ice bucket shaped like a top hat, or coat hook shaped like a human hand?
“It’s a collection that allows for not taking life so seriously,” Åkerlund says. “I want people to have a little fun in their lives. You can get one hand and put it on the wall, or 100 hands and turn it into a piece of art. Buy one lip pillow, or buy 20 to create a lip pillow ocean ... It’s really all up to you.”
Price points have yet to be made available.
