We need more trains, not buses

Andy Riga’s article on the Turcot Interchang­e constructi­on paints a dire outlook for commuters. Transport Quebec is encouragin­g commuters to use public transport and rightly so.

Seeing that Transport Quebec will spend $40 million on improving transit one wonders whether any of that amount will be spent on improving train service. There is ample capacity in terms of equipment and availabili­ty to increase train service along the Lakeshore, specifical­ly during off-peak hours, at minimal incrementa­l cost.

TQ’s idea of augmenting service is to add buses. What we need? More trains now! Michael Leduc, DDO
