Laval police seek tips in attack on woman

Laval police have turned to the public in an effort to track down a man who assaulted a woman in the city’s Fabreville district last month. The incident occurred at 6:40 a.m., Jan. 9, on 2nd Ave. near Désaulnier­s St. The victim told police she was walking on 2nd Ave. when she was grabbed from behind, pushed into a snow bank and struck in the face. The attacker then tried to remove her clothes, but she fought back and managed to flee the scene. The suspect is described as white, in his 50s, 5-foot-10 and about 165 pounds. At the time of the attack he was wearing a small, dark wool cap, dark coat and black gloves and boots. He has a scar under his left eye and smelled of alcohol at the time of the attack. An old-model, pale blue pickup truck was noticed in the area and may belong to the suspect. Police suspect witnesses may have been in the area at the time of the attack and are urging them to come forward.
