Davie shipyard can get the job done
Re: “Current plan for support ships is the best one” (Opinion, Jan. 30) and “Redraft shipbuilding strategy and include Davie” (Opinion, Jan. 24)
I understand the point of view of Seaspan Shipyards vice-president Tim Page, in his reply to Sen. Colin Kenny’s oped. And I have no expertise in shipbuilding. However, I would like to note that the Davie shipyard in Quebec has more than 100 years of experience in shipbuilding, and its last “refurbishing ” job was done on time and on budget.
Seaspan may well be able to build great support ships, but that should not stop our navy from saving time and money until we can afford “the Cadillac of the trade.”
