GROHL DRUMMING UP TOURISM

-

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has shared his memories of his time in Nirvana in a new video promoting tourism in the band’s hometown of Seattle.

Grohl joined Nirvana as drummer in 1990, playing with guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic until they disbanded upon Cobain’s death in 1994.

In the eight-minute promotional film — which also includes footage of Nirvana’s rise to fame following its 1991 album Nevermind, Grohl explains how he landed the gig with the premier band in Seattle’s grunge scene.

“It already felt like it was some sort of movement, but it was unintentional,” Grohl, 49, says. “These people just gathered or were drawn to this thing because it just sounded like they felt. And the energy was different to anything else I’d ever seen. That was my first day in Seattle.”
