SCOTTIES RESULTS

- Murray McCormick

PENTICTON, B.C. Time wasn’t initially on Mary-Anne Arsenault’s side at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The Nova Scotia skip was challenged by the four-hour time difference between her Halifax home and Penticton for the Canadian women’s curling championship. “We talked about getting onto B.C. time, but it was such a short turnaround from provincials to here,” Arsenault said. “We all work, so we tried to squeeze in as much as we could. We said we would deal with it when we got to B.C.” The time difference hasn’t been an issue lately for Arsenault, who rolled past B.C.’s Kesa Van Osch 10-4 Friday for her seventh consecutive win. Arsenault, Manitoba’s Jennifer Jones and Team Wild Card Kerri Einarson were tied for first place with 8-2 records in the championship pool heading into Friday’s late draw. The three skips are assured of at least a tiebreaker. Also in the playoff hunt were Alberta’s Casey Scheidegger (7-3), Northern Ontario’s Tracey Fleury (7-3) and Team Canada’s Michelle Englot (6-4). The top four advance to the Page playoffs, which begin Saturday with the 3 vs. 4 game (5 p.m. ET) and 1 vs. 2 match (10 p.m. ET). The semifinal and final are on Sunday.
