Health care system to receive $8.6M boost
The Quebec government is injecting an additional $8.6 million into the health-care system between now and March 31, Health and Social Services Minister Gaétan Barrette announced Sunday. The non-recurring amount will “meet the growing needs of the population and reduce waiting times” by facilitating access to surgery, diagnostic tests and certain cardiology services, Barrette said. The government will invest $2.5 million in surgery, which will allow 1,000 additional surgeries to be performed, he said. Another $2 million will be spent on diagnostic services. Nearly $4.1 million will be spent on cardiology.
