It’s time to start thinking about your next road trip

- MIRANDA LIGHTSTONE

It’s that time of year when remembering what it’s like to be warm and carefree under the hot summer sun is beyond difficult. But as you eye the snow still lingering on the streets, we’ve got a way for you to escape it all and think about brighter days ahead. The Montreal Recreational Vehicle Show is here to help cold Montrealers look forward to the summer adventures that are just around the corner.

Since 2012, the Canadian RV business has been steadily growing. In 2017, the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association of Canada reported the sale of motorhomes alone increased 40 per cent over 2016 sales.

Hosted at the Palais des congrès from March 1-4, the Montreal RV Show is a four-day event that’s not just about showcasing the latest and greatest in recreational vehicle models, but everything else that goes along with packing up and heading out on the open road for epic adventures and exploration. The show truly has the biggest selection of RV-related products and planning tools in town, all under one roof.

Last year the show saw 30,000 attendees, and this year they expect that number to grow as Montrealers look to escape the city and embrace Mother hature behind the wheel of an RV perfectly suited for their specific needs.

If you’ve ever been curious about the inside of an RV, with 20 recreational vehicle dealers on site, you’ll have no problem finding someone who can help answer your questions. Learn about the different motorhome classes (A, B, C, pop-up, truck, teardrop, etc.), and talk with experts about the best recreational vehicle to suit your needs and desires when it comes to your next road trip.

If you happen to fall in love with your dream RV, purchasing one at the show means you’ll be entered in a contest to receive a $5,000 credit as well as insurance on your vehicle for a year. If the open road’s not incentive enough to walk away with an all-new recreational vehicle, then that surely is.

There’s much more that goes into planning an RV adventure than just choosing the right vehicle to purchase or rent. But don’t worry; the Montreal RV Show has you covered there, too.

Running the entire length of the show are some relevant and helpful seminars to better prepare you for those exciting RV adventures. From location-specific talks about sights and stops in Manitoba and Florida, to learning about how to live and work remotely fulltime in your RV, to how you can use solar power on your journey, the list of speakers, topics and times is available on www.salonvr.com. These seminars are an invaluable resource and are included in the price of admission.

Speaking of admission, daily entry fees are $15 for adults, $12 for students and seniors (with proper ID for each), free for children under five years old, and only $7 for children ages six to 12.

Of course, Manitoba and Florida aren’t the only destinations suitable for RV trips, which is why there are also a plethora of RV vacation destination booths on hand for all your travel questions. Focused mostly on Quebec and Ontario camping and RV-friendly location grounds, there are also a few booths dedicated to American destinations and even The DREAM RV Resort in Riviera Maya: the ultimate winter escape for all recreational-vehicle travellers.

With more than 250 models and brands on display at the Montreal RV Show, it’s about summer lovin’ and road tripping. If you’re a seasoned RVer or new to the game, this show is the perfect place to get yourself up to date on the latest in the recreational vehicle world and everything that goes along with it, from the vehicle itself to the destination and even what to bring and do while you’re there.

Time to start dreaming about the open road and head down to the Palais des congrès between March 1 and 4 to get a taste of life behind the wheel of a recreational vehicle, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the city.
