He’s back: Carey Price will be back in goal for the Habs after missing the last 14 games with a concussion. Price, who served as a backup to Antti Niemi during Monday night’s 2-0 loss to the Florida Panthers at the Bell Centre, has struggled this season with a 15-22-6 record, a 2.98 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. Price will turn 31 on Aug. 16 and begins an eight-year, US$84-million contract next season.

Where’s the offence?: The Canadiens have been shut out in their last two games, going 127:03 without a goal since Nicolas Deslauriers scored in the second period of a 5-3 loss to the Penguins last Thursday at the Bell Centre. Since then the Canadiens have been shut out by the Toronto Maple Leafs (4-0) and the Panthers. The Canadiens have been shut out a franchiserecord 12 times this season and scored only one goal in 13 games. They rank 29th in the NHL in offence, scoring an average of 2.47 goals per game.

There’s the offence: Evgeni Malkin was leading the Penguins in scoring with 40-49-89 totals heading into Tuesday night’s game in New York against the Islanders and was second in the NHL behind the Tampa Bay Lightning ’s Nikita Kucherov (3657-93). Phil Kessel was second on the Penguins with 29-50-79 totals, followed by Sidney Crosby (23-54-77) and defenceman Kris Letang (6-38-44). Brendan Gallagher (26-18-44) and Alex Galchenyuk (16-28-44) are tied for the Canadiens’ scoring lead, but were only ranked 110th in the NHL through Monday’s games. Special teams: The Penguins have the No. 1 power play in the NHL, clicking at 25.8 per cent heading into Tuesday night’s game. The Canadiens are ranked 30th in penalty-killing, which could be a recipe for disaster. The Canadiens are also the worst team in the NHL on the road with a 9-23-4 record and their 23 regulation-time losses are a franchise record.

Getting to know you: Last Thursday ’s game marked the first time this season the Canadiens played the Penguins. They will meet again for the third and final time on March 31 in Pittsburgh.
