Anti-car stance a dead-end road

-

Cars are not going to go away. Private transportation provides people the freedom of movement that is important to them.

Public transportation systems are useful at peak rush hours, but not so much at other times. The métro is good if you live close to a station, and there is another near where you are going.

If the objective is to promote Montreal as an important business and cultural centre, the various parts of the city must be readily accessible. That means public transportation and private cars must be integrated into a logical and coherent system.

The current anti-car attitude works against the wellbeing of all Montreal citizens. H. Douglas Lightfoot, Baie-D’Urfe
