Coderre named JGH Foundation ‘ambassador’

- MARIAN SCOTT

Former mayor Denis Coderre has been hired as a consultant by the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, starting May 1.

Coderre, a former federal cabinet minister whose career in politics dates back to 1997, will serve as an “ambassador” who will work “closely with the foundation’s board and staff to advance the foundation’s mission to provide essential funding to the hospital,” the foundation said in a press release on Thursday.

“I am very pleased and honoured to join the wonderful Jewish General Hospital Foundation team,” Coderre said in the statement.

He added that he was pleased to take part in “building bridges between communities and playing a role in promoting the Living Together concept that is so dear to my heart. This is a unique opportunity that I could not let pass.”

Last week, Stingray, the Montreal-based multi-platform music and video services provider, announced it had hired Coderre as a “special adviser supporting Stingray’s business strategy and international development.”

In a statement, Stingray CEO Eric Boyko noted the company derives more than half its revenues from international sales and “Mr. Coderre’s experienced leadership and strong reputation in international markets will give Stingray a significant competitive advantage.”

Coderre was not giving interviews and his salary was not made public.
