What’s open, what’s closed during Easter long weekend

Here is a partial list of what is open and closed in the Montreal area during this year’s holiday weekend:

Most, if not all, of Canada’s major banks will be closed on Friday and open on Monday.

Federal and provincial government offices will be closed on Friday and Monday.

Most city of Montreal offices will be closed, including borough offices, Access Montreal offices and points of service. Boroughs will maintain regular garbage and recycling pickups.

The municipal courthouse on Gosford St. will be closed.

Montreal arenas, swimming pools, sports centres, libraries and cultural venues will operate according to schedules set by boroughs.

The Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard will be closed on Friday and Monday.

The city’s écocentres will be open according to their regular schedules on Friday, but closed on Monday.

The Pointe-à-Callière Museum of Archeology and History will be open.

Most large retail stores and shopping malls will be open on Friday and Monday. Most supermarke­t chains are open during regular hours on Friday and Monday, but closed on Easter Sunday.

Montreal’s public markets will operate on normal hours, with a few exceptions.

The Jean-Talon market is open according to its regular hours. The Atwater and Maisonneuv­e markets will be open on Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday.

STM buses will run on holiday schedules. Visit stm.info for more detailed informatio­n.

Certain AMT commuter lines will be running on weekend or reduced schedules on Friday. All lines will have regular service hours on Monday. Visit rtm.quebec/en for more detailed informatio­n.

Société des alcools du Québec outlets are open unless they are inside a commercial centre that is closed.

The Biodôme, Botanical Garden, Insectariu­m and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetariu­m will be open.

The Insectariu­m, Botanical Garden, and Biodôme will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The Bidôme will be closed as of April 3 for major renovation­s.

The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetariu­m will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and Monday.

Parking meters will operate according to normal schedules, and all parking restrictio­ns remain in effect.

The city of Montreal is warning people to pay particular attention to parking signs, as restrictio­ns come into force on April 1 on certain streets.

Traffic update There will be overnight closures on Highway 15 South (Décarie) between Exit 64 (Sherbrooke St.) and the Girouard Ave. entrance from Friday to Monday.

The Sherbrooke St. entrance on Highway 15 North will be closed at the same time.

On the Turcot Interchang­e, the Highway 15 South (Décarie) ramp for Highway 720 East/downtown will be closed from 10:30 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The Highway 15 South (Décarie) ramp for Highway 20 West will be closed at the same time.

On the St-Pierre Interchang­e, the Highway 20 East ramp for Route 138 West (toward the Mercier Bridge) will be closed from 10 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The Highway 20 West ramp for Route 138 West will have one lane closed at the same time.
