In defence of the Big O as a venue

-

Allow me to play devil’s advocate, or in this case, Big O advocate.

I don’t think too many people will be complaining that the government overspent to fix the Olympic Stadium roof when they are watching Grey Cup and Alouettes playoff games in the venue.

Baseball fans don’t seem to mind flocking there for Blue Jays exhibition games, and it would be pretty nostalgic if Montreal got a Major League team back and they played at the Big O for a few seasons.

But what about those World Cup games? The eyes of at least two entire nations will be on Montreal and the Big O for each of those games.

The stadium could also host large-scale sporting events and concerts as it did in the past.

Montreal is reaching for the stars for the first time in a long time.

Montrealers should be excited.
