No mention made of veteran concerns
Re: “Alleslev: Why I crossed the floor” (NP Montreal, Sept. 18)
Liberal MP Leona Alleslev’s publicly pronounced purpose for crossing the floor to join the Conservatives proved to be a deep disappointment to me. Just as I will never forget that I am a Canadian veteran, she seems to have fast forgotten that she, too, bears that brand.
In her speech in the Commons, Alleslev raised her issues of concern: “foreign policy, trade, defence, and the economy.”
All well and good, but at no point did this former RCAF officer, like so many of her political counterparts on both sides of the aisle, acknowledge the pervasive problems affecting Canada’s veterans, let alone offer possible solutions.
I do not doubt, however, that Alleslev, whether Whig or Tory come Remembrance Day, will be in line at a cenotaph to place a wreath for that prized photo-op.
