A new DoubleTree hotel offers cookies and convenience at Trudeau Airport

- ERIK LEIJON

The DoubleTree name is synonymous with high-quality amenities, attentive service, great music and delectable chocolate chip cookies. The new DoubleTree by Hilton Montreal Airport, located near Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, combines the strong reputation of the brand with the convenience of being at the airport. “We wanted it to have more local flourishes,” said Aldo Carlucci, director of operations. “It has that Quebec flair. Our wellappointed guest rooms feature Quebec-made casegood furniture and our full-service restaurant serves local products and seasonal dishes.” The hotel, which officially opened this October, features 169 rooms equipped with 55-inch televisions and Sweet Dreams signature beds. There’s a fully equipped and spacious fitness centre, and an indoor heated swimming pool surrounded by three floor-to-ceiling windows. With more than 3,000 square feet of meeting space, including four conference rooms and one boardroom, the hotel can cater to all types of events. The connectivity zone offers convenience, thanks to its communal table equipped with computer and printers. For those looking to unwind or just have a quick bite after a long workday or flight, the Semaphore restaurant in the lower lobby serves quality dining at breakfast and dinner. Bar le Semaphore, the hotel’s lobby bar across from the front desk, offers drinks, food and is the ideal spot to watch sports in a relaxing, chic environment. It’s an enjoyable gathering place not only for visitors staying at the hotel, but also for the many workers in the nearby offices. There’s a quick and convenient 24-hour shuttle for travellers at the DoubleTree, which goes both to and from the airport in mere minutes. The hotel’s centralized location and proximity to Trudeau Airport also means it’s easy to access the highway to get into town, or to hop on the 747 airport bus. While the new hotel is already impressing business clients who expect a certain level of quality from the DoubleTree name, Carlucci, with more than 30 years of experience with Quint Hotels, said he and his team are looking forward to doing what it takes to uphold the chain’s sterling reputation with travellers. “What makes us stand out is the DoubleTree standard of quality,” he said. “The checkin experience begins with a friendly smile, in which you are greeted with a warm chocolate chip cookie and soothing music in our public areas, and then there’s always the terrific breakfast buffet. But I think the most important part of any DoubleTree is the staff, and we’ve got great people from many nationalities working here. You’ll be greeted with exceptional smiles.” The DoubleTree by Hilton Montreal Airport is located at 705 Michel-Jasmin Ave. in Dorval.
