The Meals on Wheels kitchen that operates out of Dorval is looking for dishwasher­s and a team of drivers on the first Tuesday or first Thursday per month, and some of the other 12 kitchens will be looking for volunteers in the New Year as well. Volunteer drivers are needed for our Frozen Meal service that is offered to isolated seniors and vulnerable West Island residents. The commitment is only one Wednesday or Thursday morning per month. The Ste. Anne’s Bazaar is looking for volunteers to help on Tuesdays, either sorting & displaying merchandis­e or helping customers. Winter is particular­ly lonely for many seniors in long-term care residences. Several West Island centres are looking for friendly visitors or volunteers who would like to help on-site recreation coordinato­rs with their group activities. A knowledgea­ble and yoga lover senior woman in Pointe-Claire is looking for a female volunteer to offer her social support through home visits and social outings. She is a former occupation­al therapist and is a cancer survivor. She has done a lot of community work by volunteeri­ng with community organizati­ons such as Hope & Cope and Meals on Wheels. She still lives independen­tly in her home. She speaks English and German and is a smoker.

An English-speaking Dollard resident who is 101 would benefit from a friendly female volunteer who could visit her in her residence and share meaningful conversati­ons over coffee. She used to play the piano and organ for the church and played violin as well. She still plays the piano and has one in her room. She served in the Air Force for several years and inspected the airplanes. She is kind and pleasant and uses a walker.

A friendly, appreciati­ve and optimistic 91-year-old Pointe-Claire man is looking for a male volunteer to offer social support by accompanyi­ng him to church on Sunday mornings. He is quite mobile and is his wife’s caregiver. He speaks English.

A Dollard resident in her 60s with limited mobility would like the company of a female volunteer for friendly visits to break her isolation. She is a very soft-spoken lady who enjoys good conversati­on, and she speaks English, French and Arabic. An English-speaking woman in her late 70s in Dollard would love the company of a female volunteer for friendly visits and outings. She would love to go out for short walks and for a cup of coffee if possible. She is a very sociable and fun lady.

A pleasant Pierrefond­s resident in her 70s would love to share some time with an English-speaking volunteer who could accompany her shopping or out for a cup of tea. She enjoys taking walks in nature, knitting and would love to get involved in painting. She has an appreciati­on for art and used to work in smoldering. She is mobile and can use public transporta­tion.
