Two years is more than enough

Re: “Two-year sentence not severe enough” (Letters, May 31)

I was amazed to read the comments of Lynn Carlile regarding the sentencing of Michel Cadotte. In my opinion, a two-year sentence is more than adequate to punish a man who found it unbearable to continue watching his wife’s suffering. Yes, there may be 747,000 cases of people suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia, however, I would argue and hope that the majority are blessed with better living conditions than those described for Cadotte’s wife.

Michel Cadotte deserves our compassion as much as those afflicted with Alzheimer’s or dementia.
