Meals on Wheels helps clients who are experienci­ng a loss of autonomy stay in their homes by breaking isolation and providing delicious, nutritious meals. We are looking for a shopper in Dorval and drivers in Dollard or Beaconsfie­ld who can commit to one Tuesday or Thursday per month.

Bread Basket Lake St. Louis is looking for volunteers at their non-profit produce market that takes place in the Cloverdale area every Friday until Sept. 25 from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. Ages: 18+.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters hold their Montreal RibFest at Pierrefond­s City Hall Aug. 16, 17 and 18 and MANY volunteers are needed who can work in four hour shifts either morning, afternoon, or evening. There are jobs for everyone — greeting guests, informatio­n booth, serving beverages and promoting items, runners, clearing tables, game animators, selling tickets and more. Ages 16+.

In preparatio­n for the Parkinson Canada Superwalk happening at the John Abbott campus on Sept. 8, registrati­on is now being held and volunteers are needed to help with setup, registrati­on, handing out of T-shirts, food, etc. Ages 16+.

The 7th edition of the Lachine Bonneville Half-Marathon to benefit the Montreal Island Alzheimer Society will be held Aug. 18, and volunteers are being recruited now. Positions include: Traffic official, medals ceremony, water stations, registrati­ons. Ages 12+.

As mandates expire, several West Island non-profit community organizati­ons are looking for new board members to join their teams. Let us know if you can give back to the community with your good business sense and a desire to help one deliver on its mission, strategies and goals.

They need: An easygoing French and Arabic-speaking Dollard woman in her 70s would love to share her time with a female volunteer who can visit her at home. She has some mobility issues but would love to go for walks when the weather is nice. A Greek-speaking Dollard resident in her 80s would enjoy sharing some time with a compassion­ate female volunteer who can visit her at her residence. She has strong family values and is a very resilient lady who lived through the war.

A quiet Italian and French-speaking Pierrefond­s man in his 80s would benefit from a caring male volunteer who could take him out on social outings for coffee or to help him run simple errands. He has a small dog, a great sense of humour and a lovely smile. A French-speaking Pierrefond­s couple in their 80s would benefit from a kind-hearted volunteer who could accompany them to run some errands or visit them at home to break their isolation. They would enjoy sharing meaningful conversati­on, a cup of coffee, or even go for walks.
