WAINBERG, Dr. Allen S.

Suddenly, on Saturday, October 5, 2019, in his eighty-fifth year. Most beloved and cherished husband and soulmate of Harriet Steinwold. Much-loved and adored stepfather and father-in-law of Andrea and Michael Lazarus, and Lisa Goodman. Proud, loving and nurturing Papa of Brandon, Dylan and Jamie. Brother of David Wainberg. Dear brother-in-law of Carol and the late Marty Oppenheim. Loving uncle of Gena Oppenheim. Son of the late Lillian and the late Samuel Wainberg. Allen was a genuine and gentle soul who will be very deeply missed and forever remembered by all those whose lives he touched.

Allen was a Commissioned Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. He leaves behind a great legacy as an intelligent and accomplished periodontist. Allen taught at l’Université de Montréal, was an Associate Professor and Chairman in the Division of Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry at McGill University. He had served as President of several organizations: Alpha Omega Montreal Alumni - Mount Royal Dental Society, l’ Association de spa rod onto log is t es duQuébec, The Canadian Academy of Periodontology, and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. Allen had earned Fellowship in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and had been honored with the award of Fellowships in the American Academy of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.

Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Tuesday, October 8 at 11:30 a.m. Burial at the Beit Abraham Congregation Section, Kehal Israel Cemetery, D.D.O. Shiva strictly private. Due to the advent of Yom Kippur, shiva ends Tuesday afternoon.
