What’s open and closed this weekend

-

This Easter weekend, all non-essential businesses are still closed in Montreal as part of Quebec’s bid to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Because of additional COVID -19 preventive measures, nearly all stores will also be closed on Sundays throughout April, including this Sunday.

Pharmacies, gas stations, dépanneurs and restaurant takeout services are the only exceptions.

Here’s a partial list of what will be open or closed during Easter weekend:

■Most grocery stores will remain open on Saturday, but close on Sunday because of COVID-19 measures.

■ The city of Montreal says boroughs will maintain regular garbage and recycling pickups.

■ The city’s écocentres will be open according to their normal schedules.

■ The city will be accepting email requests during the weekend — for services such as its housing department and the municipal courthouse — but the requests will only be processed as of Tuesday, April 14. The city says people with specific questions about what’s open or closed should visit Montreal.ca or call 311.

■ The Société des alcools du Québec and Société québécoise du cannabis outlets are open Saturday but closed on Sunday.

■ The STM is still asking people to avoid taking public transit unless necessary, but its métro and buses will be running during Easter weekend. Schedules will be adjusted on Monday. You can find more information at stm.info.

■ Most Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) buses will run on a special holiday schedule on Monday. For exceptions, visit rtl-longueuil.qc.ca for special schedules. The RTL also announced Thursday it is enforcing new social distancing measures and is aiming to have a maximum of 15 people on each bus.
