Went downtown; won't go again
Mayor Valérie Plante urges Montrealers to go downtown. After more than six months of being cocooned, I decided to give it a try. What a fiasco!
It took more than 30 minutes to find a parking space. There were detours and closed streets because of work sites, with no workers to be seen. Almost no one was using the “pedestrian corridor” on Ste-catherine St. that took away parking spots.
I cannot use a bike or public transport. I am a senior citizen, and I need to take my car.
So long, downtown; you won't be seeing me anytime soon.
