Carrot, not stick, to promote French
I consider the 40 to 50 years of demonizing languages other than French in Quebec a complete failure.
The money and resources spent policing the use of language should have been put instead into the education system — to promote the proper use of French and help students develop a love for the language.
Language diversity is a positive. Educating about the beauty of a language encourages its use. The government should be taking a more progressive approach rather than driving division among us.
