It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Cenerelli on August 21, 2020. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Denyse (née Labelle). Loving father to Pierre (Bettina) and Martin. Adoring grandfathe­r to Carl and Clara. Predecease­d by his brother Robert, his sister Ede and brother-in-law Silvio. Remembered by sister-in-law Nancy, nieces Diane (Robert Leonard), Claire (Mindy Laxer), Claudia (Anthony Bozzo) and their children, missed by many friends and family. Born September 19 1936 in Montreal, proud son of Adolfo Cenerelli and Ida Maria Mariotti, who emigrated independen­tly from Italy in the early 1900s to start a new life in Canada. John grew up in Montreal and graduated from Sir George Williams University (chemistry). During his brilliant career, John held senior positions with major metal packaging corporatio­ns in Canada, in the United States and in Europe. He spent many years with American Can Canada, Crown Cork & Seal Canada, Conn Chem Armstrong-lang Laboratori­es, and Carnaud Metal Box in France and Italy. His colleagues will remember him for his integrity, loyalty and dedication. During his retirement, John’s happiest and memorable days were spent with his grandchild­ren, his family and friends. Including many trips to Rawdon, a farm bought by his father during the depression, becoming a frequent focal point of family and friends gatherings. John was devoted and fulfilled by his love for his wife; in all their activities John and Denyse were constant closest companions. He was known to be reliable, kind, generous with his time and willingnes­s to help others. On August 21, after a short stay in hospital, John passed away from cancer with his beloved wife at his side. A family graveside service was held on September 9, 2020 at Notre-dame-des-neiges Cemetery.
