Kathleen Lee (nee Delaney) passed away peacefully on the morning of November 30, 2020, at her residence at the CHSLD Montarville in St-bruno, Quebec, at the age of 96, surrounded by family.

She was born on January 18, 1924 in Richmond, Quebec, the daughter of the late John Courtland Delaney and the late Laura Agnes Cailler (Delaney). Her brothers were Leo Delaney (Eileen) and Paul Delaney (Denise). She was a devoted wife to John Gordon Lee, whom she married on April 30, 1949 in Richmond and whose untimely death occurred in 1977.

Kathleen leaves to mourn her daughters Laura Siwiec (Raymond) and Susan Mclaughlin, both of Calgary, Alberta and her sons, Daniel Lee of Toronto, Ontario and John Lee (Susan) of Mont-st-hilaire, Quebec. She was the beloved grandmother of Andrea Siwiec, Stephan Siwiec (Katie), Shannon Mclaughlin, Kirstin Mclaughlin (Melanie); Elizabeth Lee (Ross), Megan Lee (Étienne) and Catherine Lee (Raphaële). She leaves two extensive families of Delaney nieces and nephews across the country and John Firth (Ed) of Toronto, her only nephew on the Lee side. She was also grandmother to Sam and Bella, her beloved Mont-st-hilaire family dogs.

She was to all the matriarch of the Lee family and an icon to her grandchildren.

As a young woman, Kathleen moved from Richmond, Quebec to Montreal to pursue a career in nursing. She was trained as a Registered Nurse and graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in the late 1940's. She worked at St. Mary's as a staff nurse, a private care nurse and retired in 1989 as the Assistant Head Nurse in Geriatrics. She continued to volunteer at St. Mary's for many years after her retirement.

During her life, Kathleen enjoyed her family, a vast network of friends, knitting, reading, crosswords and travel. She was able to visit Europe on several occasions, as well as Barbados and Hawaii. Kathleen was widely appreciated and respected for her engaging personality, strength of character, intelligence, wit and undeniable sense of humour.

The Lee family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the CHSLD Montarville for their support and compassion during her stay there, especially in her final days.

If you would like to make a donation in her memory, please consider the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

Due to the current pandemic, a celebration of Kathleen's life will be held when her family and friends can gather again, later in 2021.
