July 12, 1936 - January 5, 2021

-

Jeannine passed away on January 5, 2021 with family by her side. She is survived by her loving son Don and caring daughter-in-law Jackie Maisonneuve. She was predeceased by her dear husband Philip Little who she loved, and also cared for while his health gradually declined. Also pre-deceased by her sister Louise, brother Guy, and parents Louis and Hermanie Marcoux. She will be missed by her sisters Huguette (Maurice), Claudette (Paul) and Marie-rose (Réal), brother Bernard (Pauline), Ti-guy (Liette), and several nieces and nephews.

Jeannine was born on July 12, 1936 during one of the hottest heatwaves of the 20th century. She grew up in Alexandria Ontario until her family moved to Montreal in her teens. She lived in NDG after marrying Philip with whom she celebrated 51 years of marriage until his death in 2012.

She enjoyed warm conversations and laughs with her many friends. She also liked playing cards, walking and reading. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful and self-sacrificing mother, a caring sister and a supportive and understanding friend. She was also a hockey Mom as well as a self-taught piano and accordion player who played entirely by ear. In recent years, she was a real trooper who bravely faced major health concerns, including a broken hip, pneumonia and sciatica during her three year battle with cancer. She was born with tireless energy, and was so tough and resilient that she was still taking daily walks just weeks ago.

We are grateful to the oncology staff at St. Mary's Hospital and to the CLSC in NDG (especially Anna, Helen, Christina & Mahshid) who provided care in the face of personal risk. Thanks also to Zdenek who was very helpful in recent years to Jeannine, and before that to Philip.

Mom's love will never be forgotten. Because she was very charitable and an animal lover, in lieu of flowers, any donations to the SPCA would be appreciated. She also supported the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. A celebration of Jeannine's life will be held when it's safe to do so.
