Born on October 17, 1923 in Barbados. Died on December 29, 2020 in Vancouver, BC.
We are deeply saddened to announce that our mother, Lois, passed away on December 29, 2020. Predeceased by her beloved husband Lou/launie in July 2015, brothers Clevie and Martin and sister Aggie. Adored mother of Gayle (Bohdan) and Mike (Margery). Much loved Grandma to Madison, Tai and stepGrandma to Mike (Kristina) and Sarah. Dear sister to Monica and Vonnie and sister-in-law to Ina. Also mourned by Kerry Elfstrom; Sue and Christopher Haworth. Lois will be remembered with much love by family and friends throughout Canada, Barbados, the Bahamas, England and the U.S.
Lois had a very kind and extremely generous heart. She loved deeply and we, her family and friends, were the lucky beneficiaries of this wholehearted love. In good times she was there to celebrate - baking and cooking up a storm or crocheting and knitting stunning babies' blankets, jackets and booties. In sad times she was there to lend an ear and share words of encouragement and those incredible, irreplaceable hugs.
Teaching was her profession and passion. She taught for over 40 years. Her students held a special place in her heart and she took pride and rejoiced in the successes of the many who stayed in touch with her long after she retired. Many of them remember how she joyously led the school choir, sharing and passing along her deep love of music.
We will miss her more than words can express and take comfort in knowing she is back in Lou's arms dancing to What a Wonderful World.
We thank the team at Point Grey Private Hospital for the gentle and loving care they provided to Mum and for their compassion in allowing us to be with her during her last days. To honour Lois' memory, please consider a donation to the One To One Literacy Society or Indspire. No funeral service by her request; a Celebration of Life will be held in the late summer of 2021 to honour and remember Lois and Lou Farrell.
