Man seriously injured after ATV crash in Gaspésie region

An collision involving an all-terrain vehicle has left a man in his 40s in critical condition.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Sunday, when the ATV skidded off a trail in Rivière-à-claude in the Gaspésie region.

The Sûreté du Québec said speed was likely a factor in the incident and they believe the man's seat belt was improperly attached.

The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition, while the passenger suffered minor injuries.

A Sûreté du Québec accident reconstruction team was deployed to determine the cause of the incident.
