Not too late to save wetlands
Re: “It's getting harder than ever to enjoy the heat” (Saleema Nawaz, July 6)
The City of Montreal does have some excellent environmental achievements, especially the Grand Parc de l'ouest, intended to conserve over 3,000 hectares of natural space on the West Island.
Why, then, did the city administration approve the removal of crucial wetland habitat for migratory birds in the Technoparc area of St-laurent, cutting down trees in the process, despite the total opposition of conservation groups?
Fortunately, the city administration can still do the right thing and restore the wetlands immediately, before the November election.
