What's open and closed
Here is a partial list of how services in Montreal will be impacted by the Labour Day holiday on Monday:
■Provincial and federal offices will be closed
■ Canada Post offices will be closed and mail will not be delivered Many banks will be closed
■ Large shopping malls and grocery stores will be closed. Smaller stores may stay open
Most SAQ branches will be
■ closed but those in public markets and SAQ Express locations will be open
All places staffed by City of Montreal
■ employees, such as municipal offices and the courts, will be closed. Only court appearances for people who are detained will take place as usual at 775 Gosford St.
■ Parking restrictions and parking payment machines are in effect
■ Ecocentres will be open as per their usual schedules (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
■ Various garbage collection services will be maintained according to usual schedules in all boroughs except Montreal North, where the collection of green waste has been rescheduled to the next day
■ Boroughs set their own schedule for sports centres, pools, arenas and cultural centres. Check your borough's website for details
■ Public markets such as the Atwater and Jean-talon Markets will be open
■ The Biodôme, Botanical Gardens, Planetarium and Biosphere will be open. The Insectarium is currently closed for renovations
■ The STM will operate on modified hours that vary depending on the route. The agency suggests for users to consult the schedules for that day at stm.info
■ Both the Société de transport de Laval and the Réseau de transport de Longueuil will run on Sunday schedules
■ Exo buses will operate on Saturday schedules and commuter trains on Sunday schedules
