Boxing deaths not a surprise

Re: “Boxer Zapata dies from injuries sustained in Montreal bout” (Montreal Gazette, Sept. 3)

I have never understood why boxing is considered a “sport.” Two people trying their hardest to hurt each other, with the objective of a knockout, whether technical or physical. Obviously someone will get hurt, perhaps badly, perhaps fatally. How is that entertaining?
