The Toronto Blue Jays have seen the impact 15,000 fans at the Rogers Centre can make. But how about doubling that crowd? The team continues to actively consult the Ontario government with the hope 30,000 fans or more — up from the current 15,000 limit — could be in the downtown dome for the final home stand of the regular season — and beyond should the team qualify for the playoffs. The Jays have a crucial three-game set against the New York Yankees beginning Monday and follow that with three more against the Baltimore Orioles. The Jays feel that since fans now require proof of vaccination, a bump in attendance could be done safely. Being cheered on by more fans in the stands would provide the surging team with a huge boost as it looks to secure an American League wild card spot.
