Coming home to a new kind of luxury at Mansfield

- SUSAN KELLY

In its previous incarnation, the site at 1228 Mansfield St. in downtown Montreal was home to a popular athletic club. Construction is now underway on the next stage of its evolution, the luxury boutique condominium project, Mansfield.

“In a way, all condo projects are exclusive clubs,” says Vincent Kou, chief investment and development officer at Brivia Group. “For Mansfield, every element has been carefully considered. In both aesthetics and lifestyle, it is designed so that residents will enjoy ‘members-only’ access to an elevated living experience like no other.”

Situated in the prized downtown area, Mansfield is now in presale, with delivery of the 248 exquisitely luxe units slated for 2024. Residents will enjoy bespoke concierge service, among a host of other amenities worthy of world-class resorts, such as the onsite golf simulator, luxurious lounge area and rooftop infinity pool.

For the 19-storey tower’s forward-looking architecture, Brivia turned to Béïque Legault Thuot Architectes. The Montreal firm’s previous projects include chic, trendy revamps of historic boutique hotels such as Old Montreal’s Hôtel William Gray and Hôtel Place d’armes, as well as major residential condo projects in downtown Montreal and the new office of Radio-canada.

“We charged BLTA with the interior design as well,” he said. “To bring to the units and common spaces a level of luxury with a sense of comfort like a hotel, but with superior design and finishes people will want to come home to for years to come.”

IMPRESSIVE FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The exterior of the building is a juxtaposition of dramatic ebony steel played against gleaming glass. With rounded corners edged with gold, the sophisticated silhouette evokes both Art Deco elegance and restrained modernity. The designers carried this approach through to the building’s interior spaces, both public and private.

The lobby and adjacent lounge’s welcoming décor sets the tone for all common areas: an elegant interplay of natural materials, with richly veined white marble

played against honeyed wood features and wood-toned materials, punctuated with unexpected metal accents. For drama, touches of black granite quarried in Stanstead, Quebec, echoing a feature of the façade.

“The overall effect is more like five-star hotel than typical condo building,” Kou said. “You really want to see what’s around the next corner.”

What you don’t see: The latest technology that grants easy access. All doors, from the lobby to the elevator to each unit’s front door, can be controlled via smartphone application. The system also employs a high-tech system called destination dispatch, which optimizes elevator travel time so that residents

can swiftly access any floor with a touchless experience.

DESIGNED FOR DISTINCTION

For their units, owners have the option to choose from different packages of interior finishes or can propose their own. A recurring design motif in the building is found in the flooring: engineered hardwood laid in a herringbone pattern, in a choice of four stains.

Curtain window walls open each unit to panoramic views and let in ample natural light.

The gracefully curved windows, a striking feature from the outside, are a unique and on-trend design element inside as well. They add cachet to the individual units’ design, softening the crisp lines of the modern architecture and injecting both dimension and charm.

The kitchen remains the heart of any home. Mansfield residents will have their choice of sleek, contemporary European-design cabinetry in one of four on-trend colour palettes. Undermount sinks and taps may be classic stainless steel or edgy matte black, set against countertops and backsplashes in quartz or granite. Other details such as

soft-touch latches, anti-fingerprint finish and soft-closing hardware make each kitchen as practical as it is stylish.

Bathrooms, especially master baths, are one place homeowners crave both luxury and tranquility. The soft-toned neutral colour schemes invite escape from the world’s cares, perhaps with a soak in

a freestanding tub or a relaxing shower under a rainfall showerhead. Underfoot, heated floors complete the elite at-home spa experience.

JOINING THE CLUB

Location is often considered the crown jewel of home ownership, and the project’s locale makes it a true gem. It

lies in the heart of Montreal’s bustling commercial area, with entertainment district

lies a short stroll away, as do a host of cultural and sports venues, refined retailers, and the fine dining that makes Montreal a culinary capital.

Leading from the front door is another unique feature of the building, a walking path along which will be displayed mementos of the historic Loew’s Theatre that once stood on the site.

“Anyone seeking an urban oasis with advanced design and amenities will find it here,” said Kou. “The Mansfield provides exclusive access to elegant and effortless living.”

The 248 units range in size from studio to one-, two- and three-bedroom condos. Prices start at $350,000 for studios and go up to $1.5 million for larger units.

Mansfield is currently in presale and is scheduled for delivery in 2024. For more information or to register, visit mansfieldcondos.com.
