GRESKO, Mary Soch

March 26, 1926 - October 8, 2022

-

Mary passed away peacefully, on Saturday October 8, 2022, after a long and well lived life, at the age of 96. She was the devoted daughter of the late Mary and Andrew Soch, and the caring older sister of the late Andrew Soch Jr.( Mary Haburaj)

Mary met and married the love of her life, Michael Gresko, in 1946 and they shared 43 happily married years together, until his death in 1990. They were an amazing team who enjoyed travelling, socializing with their many friends, and hosting wonderful family dinners.

She was a nurturing and loving mother to Janie Jennings and Mandy Werbitt (Marvin). She was also a proud and doting grandmother to Michael Bort (Genna Solomon), Jeremy Werbitt (Genevieve Payne) and Jonathan Werbitt (Patricia Moraga). Mary was also a great grandmother to Willow and Phoenix Bort, Jaclyn and Nathaniel Werbitt and the late Bradley Werbitt.

She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces Pat Sadler, Marlene Michaelsen and Deborah Angelus (Joe), and her nephews Brian and Ken Soch (Adriana Simoes) and her godson Sebastian Soch.

Mary was a dedicated elementary school teacher for many years. She loved working with young children and teaching them how to read and write. She often looked back and talked fondly about her teaching career well into her old age.

She was hard working and responsible. You could always count on her to lend a helping hand. She had grace, beauty and a heart of gold. She was a fabulous hostess and an excellent cook. She was creative, sensitive and funny. She made everyone's world a better place and shared her caring spirit with everyone she loved.

The family would like to thank her dedicated and loving companion, Melody Nepomuceno, who cared for Mary for many years. We would also like to thank the third floor staff at St. Margaret's Residence for the wonderful care they gave Mary during her last two years.

There will be a visitation at Centre Funeraire Cote-des-neiges, 4525 Cote des Neiges Road, on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 10 A.M. - 11:30 A.M., followed by a celebration of life until 12:30. Burial at Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery at 1 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
