Bradley earns first PGA win in 4 years

Keegan Bradley drained a key birdie putt on the 17th hole Sunday and ended a long victory drought at the Zozo Championsh­ip in Chiba, Japan.

Bradley carded a 2-under-par 68 in the final round at Accordia Golf Narashino C.C. to finish at 15-under 265, one shot ahead of third-round leader Rickie Fowler and second round co-leader Andrew Putnam.

It was the fifth PGA Tour win for Bradley and the first since the 2018 BMW Championsh­ip. The 2011 PGA Championsh­ip winner earned $1.98 million US and overtook Canada's Mackenzie Hughes for the early lead in the Fedexcup standings.

Bradley, Fowler and Putnam all held the lead at various stages Sunday. Bradley's birdie putt on the par-4 17th, which he called “one of the best holes of my life,” gave him a two-stroke lead heading to No. 18.

A tap-in par at the final hole led to a release of emotions for the 36-year-old Bradley, who fought back tears.

Fowler (70 on Sunday) and Putnam (68) both birdied the par-5 18th to share second place at 14-under.

As for the three Canadians in the field, Hughes was the top-finisher, carding a 7 under for the tournament. tied for 23rd.

Corey Conners, meanwhile, was a shot behind Hughes, finishing tied for 25th, while Adam Svensson tied for 59th at even par.

AUGER-ALIASSIME WINS FIRENZE OPEN

Canada's Felix Auger-aliassime defeated J.J. Wolf 6-4, 6-4 to win his second ATP Tour trophy at the Firenze Open on Sunday.

The Montreal native fired 11 aces, the last of which he won the one-hour-41minute match with. Auger-aliassime, the top seed, won 85 per cent of his firstserve points.

He closed the tournament only having lost his serve four times in four matches.

The 22-year-old, currently ranked 13th in the world, is set to move to No. 10 by Monday.
