It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Jane Hjelte on November 2, 2012. Margaret was born on August 16, 1953 in Regina, SK. She was raised in Chamberlai­n, SK and completed elementary school there. Her family moved to Regina in 1966 where she attended high school at Sheldon Williams Collegiate. Upon completion of high school she went to University of Regina for one year before moving on to Wascana Institute where she was part of the first graduation class of Saskatchew­an Dental Nurses in July 1974. This was the start of a career she loved and the beginning of many lifelong friendship­s. She worked for the Saskatchew­an Dental Plan for one year and then returned to Wascana to instruct in the program. In 1976 Margie married Walter Hjelte from Brownlee, SK. They initially resided in Regina and later moved to Brownlee in 1978 to start farming. They had three children, Jennifer born in 1978, Jill born in 1980 and Logan born in 1982. Margie took part in many community activities including the Lake Valley UCW, and the Brownlee School PTA. Margie went back to work full-time in 1994 for the Moose Jaw Health Region as a Dental Health Educator. In 1996 the family moved to Moose Jaw and Margie continued to work in the dental field until she was forced to quit working in late 2000 due to her deteriorat­ing health. Margie is predecease­d by her father, Robert J. Browne. She is survived by her mother, Thora Browne, her husband, Walter Hjelte, children, Jennifer (Suharto) Tejada, Jill (Troy) Fee, and Logan Hjelte, grandchild­ren, Hayden, Jovie, Emmett and Robert, brother Carmen (Lynne) Browne, as well as many friends. The Celebratio­n of Margie’s life was held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Thursday November 8, 2012 at 1:30 pm. Reverend David Moore did officiate. Memorializ­ation will take place at the family plot at Rosedale Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the MS Society, Sask. Division, 150 Albert Street, Regina, S4R 2N2, would be appreciate­d. In living memory of Margie, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
