Chris­tine Boy­czuk, a lead­ing vol­un­teer in the com­mu­nity was an­nounced as the (2017) Cit­i­zen of the Year. For her un­wa­ver­ing sup­port in the com­mu­nity through a num­ber of vol­un­teer po­si­tions held in ed­u­ca­tion, clubs and dif­fer­ent or­ga­ni­za­tions in the com­mu­nity, Boy­czuk was a de­serv­ing re­cip­i­ent. She has held sev­eral roles in ed­u­ca­tion and is a part-time Lit­er­acy Co­or­di­na­tor. As of Jan­uary 2018, she was the cur­rent pres­i­dent of the Pro­vin­cial John Howard So­ci­ety, board pres­i­dent of the YMCA, mem­ber of the Cana­dian Men­tal Health As­so­ci­a­tion Moose Jaw, a mem­ber of the Pro­vin­cial Men­tal Health Ref­er­ence Com­mit­tee, vice pres­i­dent of the Wakamow Ro­tary Club and past pres­i­dent of the Friendly City Op­ti­mist Club.
