A Caring Cadet

-

Frances Rose of Brooklin, Ont., writes, “My grandson, Conner Browne, is an Air Cadet with 2 Vandenbos Squadron in Whitby, Ont. In the summer of 2017, he was at a cadet camp at CFB Borden. He took it upon himself to collect money for Wounded Warriors Canada. He and some other cadets dared a fellow cadet to wear a dress and walk through the camp. They said that they would give him $50 if he would do so. The cadet declined the dare, but Conner decided to do it himself, and donate the money to Wounded Warriors. He said if he collected $200, he would also wear makeup and let the girls wax his legs. The officers at the camp found out and thought that the cadets were just fooling around, so he was not allowed to walk the lines at the camp. He was, however, able to collect more than $600 during the summer. He continued his fundrais- ing at school and was able to raise a total of $1,000. He happily donated it to a representative of Wounded Warriors Canada during one of the squadron meetings, in front of all his friends and family. I am so proud of the young man he has become and cannot wait to see what his future brings.“
