Good Ol’ Days
The story “Good Old School Days” (August-september 2018) by Margaret Tilbert brought back memories of the oneroom school house for me. My two older brothers used to walk three miles to school. The wood burning stove sat at the rear of the room with a metal frame work above it, where, on rainy days, children’s wet clothing could be hung to dry. With eight grades all in one room,
I naturally picked up some of the older kids’ lessons and completed all eight grades in five years. I believe many seniors who attended a one-room school would have similar experiences to share. It would make for interesting reading. I hope you receive a great selection so we all have more memories brought to light!
