JANET COLLIE
Born in Campbellton, N.B., for the past 35 years Janet has loved teaching in various small northern Canadian communities. Living and working in the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Yukon and now Alberta, Janet and her family have driven across Canada on numerous occasions. Upon arriving at Eaglesham School in northern Alberta, Janet was moved to see the heartfelt way that the young people honour our veterans each November. In her story A Night in the Trenches (page 16) Janet shares how one of her fellow teachers educates his students on the realities of war.
CAROLYN MACISAAC
Carolyn resides in rural Nova Scotia with her husband of 55 years. They have three children and six grandchildren. Carolyn enjoys writing, scrapbooking, photography, hiking and travelling. She is involved with the Pictou County Writers’ group and the Scotsburn-northumberland Amateur Photography Society. Carolyn writes the weekly mission statement for Bethel Baptist Church in Westville, and is the author of three books. Her latest novel is called All Alone Again. Check out her Our Travels story about the beauty of Cape Breton’s Celtic colours on page 20.
SUPINDER WRAICH
Supinder is an up-and-coming Canadian actress. A graduate from the University of Ottawa with a B.A. in communications, her big break came after being cast in the Emmy awardwinning web series Guidestone, for which she won the 2015 Canadian Screen Award for “Best Performance in a Program or Series Produced for Digital Media.” More recently, she can be seen starring in the
CBC Gem web series, The 410, which she created, coproduced and wrote. Read her Showcase story on page 29 about how her Indian culture both shaped her life growing up in Canada and influenced her acting career.
TARA LOWRY
Tara is a freelance writer/photographer and ESL teacher. A passion for travel has resulted in a nomadic lifestyle that has taken her haphazardly across four continents. She has a penchant for most things charming or whimsical and thrives on wonderfully eccentric and quirky experiences. Currently, she is based in Vancouver, where she nurtures several unique collections, including an ever-growing assortment of nesting dolls, which you can read all about in her Collectors story on page 40. Tara also collects snapshots which can be seen on her Instagram account @taralowryphotography.
