Donald Walker wants Magna-International Inc. to be the best manufacturer in the world. Not the best auto-parts maker, but the best manufacturer period. It sounds like one of those far-fetched mantras uttered by an overly ambitious executive, but the CEO of the Canadian auto-parts maker is serious. “I think the automotive industry is the most complicated product that’s mass-produced in the world, if you look at the amount of technology, the amount of parts, the complexity, the logistics,” he says. “Because we’re good in that area, we’re already amongst the best.”
