It has served her well through her varied career in public service, including roles as Secretary of the Treasury Board and Chief Human Resources Officer at the Secretariat and Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.

“The biggest challenge has been to be the only woman in the room, in the field, on the panel, etc. Often, when you are the only one with a different view or opinion, no one hears, no one listens. All things being equal, I select/appoint/ promote women. I also ensure my management teams have a good balance or mix of women and men, and from different backgrounds. Diversity is a strength.”
