EXPANSION ON THE BOOKS The Goodman School of Business has been one of the fastest-growing B-schools in the province, to the point where it’ s bur sting at these ams, so the Ontario government’ s decision last year to invest $10 million over two years to expand and renovate the school’ s buildings and add more facilities was good news. The money forms a big chunk of a $22- million proposal the university has been pursuing.
A NEWCOMER TO THE LIST Canadian Mennonite University is the latest school in Canada to offer an MBA, joining U.S. schools Eastern Mennonite University, Bluff ton University and Gosh en College in offering an online Collaborative MBA program that includes a one-week international residency. Meanwhile, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology’ s MBA program is on hiatus.
DIGITAL DAYS Deg root e School of Business this fall is starting an Executive MBA in Digital Transformation that focuses on connecting so-called big data—a fancy term for data collection—and analytics with corporate strategy. Part of the program is delivered in Silicon Valley and it has three corporate partners: CI BC, IBM Corp. and founding partner the Score Inc.
REACHINGOUT The Rot man School of Business in 2015 became the first Canadian B-school to formally partner with Reaching Out MBA, a U. S.-based advocacy group for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans gender students, and setup two fellowships. An L GB Ton-campus club called The Letters was also established.
TELL US ABOUT IT The Peter B. Gustav son School of Business introduced an MBA customized for Tel us Corp. It’ s the first customized graduate program for a corporation that the school has delivered, though it has been working with Tel us since 2010. The initial cohort has 20 employees that already have “significant management experience .”
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY Schulich School of Business is currently in the midst of its 50 th anniversary academic term with a gala celebration planned on May 27 followed by a fire side chat with Toronto-Dominion Bank CEO and president B ha rat Mas ra ni( one of this magazine’ s MBA All-Stars last year ), among other events. McGill University’ s Des au te ls Faculty of Management enjoyed its 50 th anniversary last year.
