BIO: Nazia Shahrin is a transformation leader at RBC and a lecturer at University of Toronto. She started her career as a developer and moved into transformation roles across RBC. She enjoys challenging the status quo, thinking outside the box, and leveraging technology to reimagine the way we do things in the digital world.
MOST IMPORTANT CAREER LESSON: Transformation is a marathon, not a sprint and how you do it matters just as much as what you do.
ON MOTIVATION: I am motivated to leave the world in a better place than when I came into it. I want to have impact and in many ways. During 2020, it became even more apparent how much more we can do as a society. This year I took my first role as a Co-chair in Diversity & Inclusion as a result of the growing concerns in the world.
BIO: Angela Thompson holds executive oversight of the Project Controls, Estimating, Real Estate and Supply Chain Management functions for the Clearstream group of companies. Additionally, she has operational oversight for the Clearstream Environmental Services Consulting division. Angela brings over 15 years of strategic planning, business development, mergers and acquisitions and professional consulting experience. Her oversight includes $150 million in capital, material and vendor spend.
MOST IMPORTANT CAREER LESSON: You can’t rely on others to give you confidence, it needs to come from within yourself.
ON MOTIVATION: I am motivated by my family (husband, Chris; and kids, York and Liv) plus my teams (Functional & Operational)
ON WHAT MAKES A LEADER: The ability to see what is not there and anticipate outcomes.
