Good idea, bad name
Re: Manning Proposes A School Of Right. Sept. 19. Preston Manning’s proposal of creating an institute to fight liberalism in this country may please conservatives and would provide a last-ditch effort of turning a liberal country into a more conservative one, but does it have to be called “ The Manning Centre for Building Democracy”? Can’t it be simply called The Conservative Centre, or perhaps named after Sir John A. Macdonald or Brian Mulroney, two Conservative leaders who accomplished much more than Mr. Manning?
Considering that Mr. Manning’s Reform party splintered the Conservatives into a thousand pieces in the first place, isn’t calling it the “Manning” centre somewhat like calling a company that makes unsinkable ships The Titantic Ship Company?
