Running for Terry

through Sunday’s 10-kilometre Terry Fox run, I found it amazing to think that Terry ran more than four times this distance every day for 143 consecutive days — a truly stunning achievement. Twenty-five years later, with tens of thousands of participants throughout the world, the annual Terry Fox Run has raised $360-million for cancer research to the benefit of millions worldwide. Equally stunning is the thought that our federal government managed to squander more than three times this amount on the ill- fated federal gun registry. Imagine the research that could have been undertaken had this money been put to better use.
