Gagliano back in politics, this time as organizer on Italian’s campaign

Former federal Cabinet minister Alfonso Gagliano is getting back into politics. This time, however, it’s Italian politics, and it’s as an organizer rather than as a candidate. Mr. Gagliano has agreed to volunteer as Quebec campaign organizer for Paolo Canciani, a former Montreal resident who now lives in Toronto. Mr. Canciani will be running in the Italian election expected in the spring. It’s the first time there will be seats in the Italian parliament and senate earmarked for Italians living in North America. Mr. Gagliano, pictured, was recalled as Canada’s ambassador to Denmark after he found himself a key figure in the probe into the federal government’s scandal-plagued sponsorship program.
