Tom Cheek missed

In 1990 my family gave me a splendid trip to Spring Training in Dunedin.

At the Blue Jays fan club breakfast, emcees Tom Cheek and Jerry Howarth entertained us royally with their hilarious banter. Not wishing to ever bother a celebrity for an autograph I boldly asked Tom for a handshake to last the summer. He replied, “How about a big hug instead?” I enjoyed the hug of my life from the big guy.

I will remember forever Tom’s warmth, generosity, dedication, outstanding broadcasts and that wonderful hug.

You’ve touched us all, Tom!
