TERRA … WHERE SPRING’S SONGBIRDS WELCOME SUNNY DAYS AND DISTINCT APPETITES WITH INTERNATIONAL FLAIR AND MELODIC CARE … SARPA IS ALSO A BRIGHT ADDITION …

Like many other restaurant afficiandos and leading dining critics within the hospitality industry we have joined forces in singing praise to one of the most outstanding eateries in the province, Terra in Thornhill. And while accolades have continued to be extensive, our three hosts Ian Chase, Michael de Tommaso and Stephen Perrin (Executive Chef) have gone on to open Sarpa in North Richmond Hill, this time joined in partnership with Executive Chef, Paul Malito in featuring a restaurant that is specifically designed to cater to progressive Italian cuisine (better known as comfort food) all served in a neighbourhood family-style ambience. This acquisition is located at 13311 Yonge St. North Richmond Hill. Additional details can be achieved by phoning (905) 773-2188. The restaurant by the way has become an "instant success!" so a big bravo to our hosts in residence! Specific entrees might include Zucchini and Eggplant Parmigina; Mediterranean Sea Bass; the classic “Zuppa di Pesce’ featuring stewed king crab, calamari, shrimp, mussels, spicy tomato brodette and olive oil crestini; as well as Grilled Angus Beef Tenderloin.

Terra continues to gain impact on our always hectic dining scene! Open for lunch and dinner (with catering also being part of the theme) we have favoured this time-honoured gem over and over again. Menus are brilliantly conceived and executed; service is dazzling. The interior of the structure offers a stunning brocade of indoor-outdoor garden style settings with luncheons from 11am Monday to Friday; dinner Monday to Sunday from 6pm; and there’s a truly innovative Tapas Bar Tuesday through Saturday. On Thursday and Saturday nights late night Tapas and a resident DJ is on deck; and on Friday evenings a live Jazz Trio is also part of the staging from 9.30pm onwards. Of our many visits we have shared recommended appetizers that might include a rich-bodied Lobster Bisque; they consistently change! Grilled Sea Scallops; and the outstanding Assorted Appetizer Platter for Two or More. Entrees suggest Wild Mushroom Risotto; or a Grilled Provimi Veal T-bone Chop as well as Rack of Lamb; Potato Gnocchi; and Ostrich Tenderloin. Fine cheeses; imported teas; three-course inclusive $39 Sundaydelicious menus for maximum of eight guests; and a very impressive wine list are part of the exceptional flavours found at 8199 Yonge St. Thornhill, Ont.lic. Remember to book for Mother’s Day Sunday, May 13h (905)731-6161. www.terrarestaurant.ca

CAMARRA'S RISTORANTE CONTINUES TO SHINE WITH ORIGINALITY … DON’T FORGET MOTHER’S DAY IS HIGHLIGHTED SUNDAY MAY 13 … RESERVE NOW FOR THIS POPULAR EVENT …

With generous accolades from some of the most demanding food critics in today's restaurant world, Camarra's Ristorante has not only excelled in its quest to provide the most delicious recipes imaginable (coupled with outstanding pizza favourites) the original host, Elisa Camarra continues to provide a fabulous range of tantalizing and highly creative dishes from her kitchens of plenty while assuring guests only the freshest of ingredients are used and that no additives will dare be included within her culinary skills. Along with Elisa is her daughter, Emilia (a world travelled and highly experienced executive in her own right) who several years ago decided to lend her knowledge on a full time basis and now handles much of the families' responsibilities. Emilia also provides her own 'culinary' strategies to the restaurant's well-being when we find the lunch and dinner hours continue to produce a huge following of diners, and of course special banquet facilities are also available throughout the year. A quick phone call establishes cost per head dependent on the chosen menus.

In general terms, Camarra's spells tranquility, personalized service and provides such intriguing appetizers as Grilled Calamari; Baked Eggplant layered with tomato sauce, mozzarella and parmigiano cheese; or the Quadifoglio di Pece consisting of four different seafood appetizers in one with mussels, shrimp, seafood salad, and smoked salmon served with dollops of homemade sauce. Remember these listings are from previous encounters and though fully recommended menus do change, so they may not be available on the day of your visit! Entrees we have also previously shared include tender grilled Veal served in a bed of arugula, topped with shavings of parmigiano cheese; and homemade spinach egg noodles sauteed with zucchini, with black tiger shrimps and shallots in a light cream sauce known as Tagliolini alle Zucchino e Gamberoni. Cap your meal off with one of Elisa's deliciously sinful 'signature' desserts. Pizzas are also a welcome treat, and feature a new multi-grain gluton-free base. All recipes are served with care and generosity and now is the perfect time to check on special Mother’s Day celebrations, Sunday May 13 at 2899
