NATURAL ATTRACTION

- BY CONNIE ADAIR Listing Broker: Moffat Dunlap Real Estate (George Webster)

There aren’t a lot of new cottages in the Pointe au Baril area, says listing agent George Webster.

This property, known as Quarrywood, is a recently completed custom-built complex and is essentially turnkey, he says.

A main cottage and a sleeping cottage overlook the protected harbour and natural sand beach.

The 2,400-square-foot main cottage has an open-plan living room, dining room and kitchen pod connected to a three-bedroom sleeping pod by a screened porch that has sliding glass panels. The kitchen has wall-mounted ovens and two fridges in the separate pantry.

The sleeping pod houses a master suite and ensuite bathroom, plus two bedrooms that have sleeping lofts. A three-piece bathroom and a sky lit laundry area are other highlights.

The approximately 830-sq.-ft. sleeping cottage, built to the same standards as the main building, has an open-concept living and dining area anchored by a floor-to-ceiling granite stone fireplace.

A galley kitchen, two bedrooms, a three-piece bathroom and walkouts to cedar decks and an open-air shower are other highlights.

Together the buildings can ac- commodate 12 to 14 people. They were built to withstand the weather extremes of the Georgian Bay climate. The concrete-based siding is guaranteed for 50 years, the stains are guaranteed for 15 years, chimneys are built entirely of local-cut stone granite and double-hung custom Thermopane windows are used throughout, Mr. Webster says.

A dry dock boathouse has a workshop and storage for watercraft. A secondary dock is ideal for launching boats. The property is surrounded by acres of crown land.
